The less time remains until the New Year, the more often and more we think about preparing for it. Among the many New Year's souvenirs, handmade monkey magnets are especially popular - they are small, do not take up much space and decorate the refrigerator. And on the eve of the holiday, everyone tries to acquire something with an image or in the form of a symbol of the coming year. So we will start making such a magnet, because why buy the same type of plaster products if you can easily and quickly make a monkey magnet yourself? Shall we try? Then let's get started!

Magnet Monkey

To work you will need:

  • flexi in brown and orange (you can also use colored cardboard);
  • 2 caps from plastic bottles;
  • eyes for toys;
  • magnet;
  • marker;
  • scissors;
  • hot glue (or superglue).
Everything we need

New Year's amulets: DIY monkey magnets

Step 1. Prepare the base for the magnet. To do this, on a sheet of brown flex paper, draw the contours of the monkey’s body. Caps from plastic bottles will be three-dimensional parts of the body (head and tummy), so when drawing the outline they should also be attached to the paper.

Outline the monkey

We cut along the contour and get our monkey.

Cutting out the blank

Step 2. Add a little volume to the future amulet magnet to enhance its durability. After all, he, like everyone else, will have to work hard to fulfill his protective functions. To do this, use glue to attach the caps to the base body.

Glue the lids onto the workpiece

Step 3. From a piece of orange flex paper, we cut out small parts for the body with our own hands: ears, the light part of the face and belly. Instead of flex, you can use any solid material: cardboard, plastic, or make a base from polymer, salt dough, etc.

Cutting out the details of the “face”

Step 4. Glue all the additional details of the animal symbol of the year, including the eyes, into place.

Gluing small parts

Step 5. Glue a magnet on the back side of the almost finished monkey. It is desirable that it is not very “thick” and is placed in the middle of the base body. If you make monkey magnets with your own hands from clay, then in the place where the magnet is attached you can make a recess slightly less than its height, where you can place this same magnet.

Glue the magnet itself on the back side

Step 6. Using a marker, draw small elements on the magnet (nose, mouth, paws).

“Reviving” the monkey

OK it's all over Now! An original and simple DIY monkey magnet is already ready.

DIY monkey magnet

Now you can place it on the refrigerator or magnetic board, from where our monkey will help the owners of the house in the New Year, without disturbing anyone.

Monkey on the refrigerator

Such magnets will also be a good symbolic New Year gift for friends and family. Please them with an unusual gift and they will gladly accept it, because no one else will have such an exclusive gift. 😉

For such a craft, you can come up with the outline of a monkey yourself. For example, you can use the following magnets:

Or maybe such a prankster will be closer to you?

Or maybe it’s easier for you to make her obedient and sweet?

By the way, remember I. Krylov’s fable “The Monkey and the Glasses”? Well, why not a source of inspiration? Imagine, create, create different monkey magnets with your own hands and in the new year this animal will definitely protect you from all troubles. Good luck to you!

New Year is just around the corner! I suggest linking something like this refrigerator magnet!

As the Year of the Monkey is approaching, it's time to prepare small souvenirs for friends and family.

DIY Monkey magnet for the refrigerator. Step-by-step instructions with photos

Materials and tools

Modeling mass

Ball plasticine

Linen or hemp cord

Self-adhesive magnetic tape

Scissors

Step-by-step process for making a Monkey magnet

1. You need to make several parts from modeling mass: an oval for the body, 4 balls of different sizes for the head, muzzle and ears, and 4 balls for the paws.

3. Cut 2 pieces of linen or hemp cord 10-12 cm long. We fix them in the monkey’s body and attach them to the tips of the paws.

4. Turn the body over to the front side, attach a round head, glue a convex muzzle, and attach ears. Glue on the smile and the inner parts of the ears.

5. We sculpt the eyes, make holes for the nostrils. We sculpt a tummy from a piece of ball plasticine.

6. From flat magnetic tape, cut out 6 pieces for the monkey’s body, head and paws. We attach magnets to the back of the craft. To do this, remove the protective film and glue the magnets to the parts (for reinforcement, you can add a few drops of glue)

7. Now you can attach the monkey to any metal surface, such as a refrigerator door.
