It varies in texture and density - yes, in any case it is liquid, but there are liquid cream and liquid gel, translucent or dense, with the effect of varnished lips or with a velvet coating.

Best before date

Preservatives are responsible for the shelf life of any lipstick - and it is very important that they are safe for your lips, do not cause allergies and do not dry out. Previously, boric acid and formalin were used, but recently, fortunately for us, small amounts of benzoic acid salts are used.

On average, the product can be stored for three years; the expiration date of one specific product can be found on the packaging.

Compound

Components that provide durability are polymers, and a long shelf life– preservatives, usually salts of benzoic acid. Matteness is provided in most cases by tin oxide.

This lipstick does not contain oils, fats or waxes - that is why it remains stable even in the summer and does not flow, and also has a liquid consistency.

Of course, there is a place for dyes and pigments – natural and artificial. It is thanks to them that lipstick becomes colored. There are a huge number of dyes. They contain bromine and fluorescein, and are extracted from coal tar. If we are talking about natural dyes, then they are obtained from cochineal mealybugs carmine - better known as E 120. Piments are obtained from quartz, mica and fish scales, as well as from titanium and iron oxides.

Lipstick often contains various fragrances. Additional auxiliary ingredients include various flavoring components, UV filters that protect from the sun, and vitamins.

Palette

Since recently this type of lipstick has become very popular, many brands have begun to produce their own lines. The palette of shades on the market is simply huge: from rich reds to muted beiges, soft dusty “Nude” shades. If desired, you can also find purple, black, green and even neon lipsticks - this is due to the fact that liquid products are used for carnivals and holidays. There are also lipsticks with an ombre effect.

Review of brands and series

Liquid matte lipsticks are a profitable niche in the beauty industry, so literally every brand has several lines or series with this product. These are Smashbox, Magnifique, Eveline “Velvet Matt”, IsaDora, “Suede”, Focallure and many others– from European to Belarusian manufacturers.

• OFRA "Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick". The brand gained popularity thanks to Instagram, and now there are about thirty shades in the palette. It will survive both coffee and a few snacks for lunch. However, such cosmetics cost a decent amount - about a thousand rubles.
• NARS Velvet Lip Glide Matte Lipstick. Available in thirteen shades, the cost of one is one and a half thousand, but it is justified. The lipstick is very pleasant to use and apply - not sticky or stringy, liquid, but hardens on the lips (like a cream), does not bring discomfort or a feeling of tightness/dryness. It's like a second skin, incredibly smooth and well pigmented.
• Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Lipstick. It is slightly cheaper than other lipstick, about one thousand two hundred rubles. At first glance - glossy, shiny. When it dries it becomes really matte. It seems to fill the lips with pigment and vitality, without drying them out.
• Stila "Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick". It costs about one thousand three hundred rubles. The composition includes vitamin E - “the vitamin of beauty and youth”, which is why it does not dry out the lips. It is almost not felt on the lips, although it is highly pigmented, it feels weightless. The collection includes fourteen shades.

• BH "Liquid Lipstick Long Wearing Matte Lipstick". A fairly budget analogue, it costs only five hundred rubles. The composition also includes vitamin E, which does not allow the skin of the lips to dry out, and a polymer that promotes stability. The lipstick is sold in ten shades - from hot pink to rich plum.
• MAC "Retro Liquid Lipcolour". As color specialists, MAC offers its liquid lipsticks in twenty vibrant shades, so you're likely to find a color to suit your tastes here. The lipstick feels like suede or velvet on your lips.
• Revlon "True Matte Complimenti". The price/quality ratio of this brand is excellent. The price is small (about two hundred to three hundred rubles), but this lipstick has excellent coverage and color.
• Clinique NEW Pop Liquid Matte Lip Color + Primer. By adding a primer, the lipstick becomes even more resistant to weather conditions and life's troubles. The primer helps the lipstick adhere better and prevents your lips from drying out. The product itself has a very convenient applicator with a thin tip, which allows you to more thoroughly paint the contour and corners of the lips.

When it comes to liquid matte lipsticks, cost doesn't play a big role. When choosing them, you need to pay attention to texture, color, coating and your personal desires, and not to the price tag. However, if you live in a big city, finding a cheaper analogue of an expensive product will not be difficult.

Remember that part of the cost of a product depends on its packaging: the brighter, more stylish or shiny it is, the more expensive the lipstick will be.

The other part is from the country of origin. Belarusian, Russian, Turkish and Polish lipsticks are much cheaper than European and American ones - just because of import/export, and are in no way inferior in quality. As an example, we can cite the famous Golden Rose, TF or Relouis.

How to apply makeup correctly?

Matte lipstick, and even a liquid one, can significantly dry out the skin of the lips, get into folds and emphasize flaking, and also completely deprive the lips of relief. Therefore, it is very important to prepare your lips before applying lipstick. A scrub, balm or any fatty vegetable oil will help with this.

Lip scrub can be purchased at almost any cosmetic store, or you can make it yourself. For this you will need a tablespoon of honey, sugar and coconut oil or shea butter. Honey needs to be melted in a water bath and poured into a small container - from lip balm, some cream or wax. Add a tablespoon of sugar, ten drops of oil and leave to cool in the refrigerator.

Before use, the scrub should be removed from the refrigerator and allowed to warm to room temperature. You need to use it in very small quantities - take a small pea-sized amount of product on the tip of your finger and distribute it with massaging movements over pre-steamed lips. You can steam them using a napkin soaked in hot (but not boiling water) water. The balm stays on for two to three minutes, then rinses off.

Next, you should apply a nourishing lip balm or fatty oil - coconut, shea butter, avocado or vitamin E oil solution. You can also use a special lip primer that will fill in all the unevenness. This is, for example, the “Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil” from Urban Decay.

You need to let the oil absorb a little, then remove the excess with a damp cloth. If you do not want to do these manipulations in the morning, you can do it in the evening, before bed. You should scrub your lips once or twice a week - this will not only help the liquid matte lipstick adhere better, but will also make them visually fuller, smooth out unevenness and get rid of flaking. A lip scrub acts like a facial scrub – it exfoliates dead skin cells.

Now you can apply lipstick. Remember that the liquid formula sets very quickly. If you make a mistake in application, you have less than a minute to wipe off the product with a cotton pad or touch up with a Q-tip. However, you can always disguise a small lipstick stain on the skin with foundation, corrector or concealer.

If you are a beginner, you can use a lip pencil before applying pigment - sometimes it comes with lipsticks, for example, Kylie. Use it to outline your lips. The liquid pigment will subsequently overlap the pencil stroke, but this will help you avoid the outline.

As a rule, liquid lipsticks come with a stick or applicator included.

However, you can purchase a special brush for applying the pigment if that is more convenient for you. You should fill your lips from the center of the lower lip, gradually approaching the corners. Repeat that famous step with self-kissing - press your lips together with the sound "m". Some of the lipstick will be imprinted on your upper lip, and you will only need to fill in the remaining space. Outline the outline and correct the flaws.

Layering liquid formulas is not recommended - you can touch up worn areas, but in no case should you paint over the entire surface of your lips again, since such lipsticks do not blend with previous layers. They create the effect of loading and drawn lips.

There is an option with a light matte shade - apply a balm to your lips, fill in the center of your lips with your fingers, leaving the contour half-empty.

Matte lipsticks, especially liquid ones, are highly durable and cannot be washed off with water. You will need to use micellar water for long-lasting textures or hydrophilic oil - before washing, you can run a makeup remover wipe over your lips. After removal, use a balm or oil to nourish your lips after a hard day at work.
