The description of the cardigan from designer Cassie Castillo is translated from the book “Celtic Journey”.

Necessary materials:

Yarn Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted (100% Peruvian wool; 100 m / 50 grams per skein) – 12 (13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23) skeins, 2 buttons with a diameter of 2.5 cm.

Notes:

Making a cardigan begins with a belt, which is knitted across the height of the jacket. Then loops are cast on the sides of the belt for the upper and lower parts.

When knitting the upper part of the back, an empty space is left for a square medallion. Loops for the medallion are cast on three sides of the back, and loops for the fourth side are cast on separately. The medallion is knitted in circular rows from the outside to the center.

The neckline binding is done separately and sewn along the front and neckline.

During work, if necessary, switch from long circular knitting needles to shorter ones.

Techniques used:

Adding a loop with right and left lifting is shown in the video tutorial

Knitting i-cord is shown in the video tutorial

Yoke

Cast on 60 (62) 64 (66) 68 (70) 72 stitches on 4 mm circular needles and knit in turning rows.

In the first row on the front side, add loops.

Switch to 5mm needles after the sixth row.

When all rows of the pattern are completed, there should be 208 (228) 248 (268) 288 (308) 328 stitches on the needles.

Next, knit the third part of the pattern on the first and last 22 loops. Knit the remaining stitches as they appear (knit stitches, purl stitches) until the work reaches 18 (19) 20 (22) 23 (24) 25 cm. Work the purl row last.

In the next row, separate the stitches for knitting the back, front and sleeves.

Repeat from * to * once, knitting pattern to end of row.

Perform the second row with decreasing stitches after another 6 rows.

132 (144) 164 (176) 196 (204) 220 stitches remain on knitting needles.

Knit the pattern evenly, without decreasing the stitches, 3 cm.

Work the purl row last.
