Subsequently, with the development of knitting skills, the master freely operates with yarn of any thickness, but it is advisable to begin the path to the heights of mastery by using the thread of the most convenient thickness for the knitting process.

The knitting needles for making the splices are chosen to be circular on a short fishing line (40-60 cm), or a pair of stocking needles size No. 2 - 2.5. The peculiarity of performing shortened rows is that you do not knit all the loops in one row, but only the required number. In this way, expansion of one edge is achieved. Technically, it looks like this: having knitted the required number of loops, remove one without knitting, throw an inverted yarn over it and return the loop to the knitting needle, thus securing the thread in the middle of the row. Then the knitting is turned and knitted further. In this case, there will be no holes left in the knitted fabric. The presented model features vertical knitting.

Let's start with a description of the process to understand the sequence of stages of work. The execution of many models is subject to the rule: knitting begins with the edging of the top of the product, then the heel is formed, the sole is made with the side parts of the foot, and the work is completed by making the top from the toe, gradually “tying” a relief (or straight) strip to the sides of the foot by the edge loops, getting a kind of seam. From the 11th row they begin to knit the heel part: they switch to stockinette stitch - from the face they knit with knit stitches, from the inside - with purl stitches, and knit 18 rows in this way. On the resulting 30 loops in stocking stitch, 24 rows of the sole and sides of the heel are made. Then they begin to form the toe, gradually reducing the number of loops along the edge and in the middle of the working fabric in the front rows in this order:

Continue knitting in this way until there are 10 stitches left on the knitting needles. This is the top of the toe. Now you need to turn the work over so that you start making a track on 10 loops, grabbing the edge loop from the side with each last loop of the row and knitting them together. In this way, the top of the product is covered, while decorating it at the same time. The resulting central track can be made in any acceptable pattern - satin stitch, garter stitch, medium-sized braids, openwork tracks. For example, 2 braids of 4 loops directed from the center look impressive and festive. Knit such a track like this:

The toe of the heel is knitted in the same way as the heel, only after adding 1 edge loop should be knitted. You need to add loops on the toe until there are 16 loops on the knitting needle.
• The upper part of the track is knitted according to the pattern below. Purl loops are added to both sides of the edge braid pattern. The increase must be done until 24 original loops appear on the knitting needle.

• Next, you should knit the upper part of the trace with the pattern according to the pattern, pulling out loops from the edge braid on each side.
